Barielle Nail Rebuilding Protein and Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender Review

This weekend I tried a new base coat and top coat. Barielle Nail Rebuilding Protein and Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender.

Nail Rebuilding Protein is a base coat for soft, thin, or peeling nails. As described by Barielle, "This revolutionary formula helps build up damaged nails, bonding and fortifying weak nail layers together. A perfect product to help damaged nails after removing wraps and acrylics."

To use it, you apply it two to three times per week for three weeks without nail polish to allow your nails to breathe. After three weeks, use as a base coat in your manicure steps. My nails are already pretty strong (despite the occasional mishap) so I plan to use as a base coat a few times a week with my normal nail painting. If you have nails that are soft, thin, or peeling frequently, I would suggest following the instructions pertaining to the first three weeks.

I used Nail Rebuilding Protein with all of my swatches of the new Barielle polishes. It looks cloudy in the bottle, but dries with a slight shine on your nails. Perfect if you wear it alone, giving a subtle shine.

If you're looking for a 3Free rebuilding base coat, it is Dibutyl-Phthalate, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free.

Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender is a quick drying top coat as the name implies. As described by Barielle, "This award winning, high gloss, quick drying formula provides a hard, chip resistant top coat. This formula was also developed to help protect the nail and color from UV radiation to help keep dark colors from fading and light colors from yellowing."

To use it, apply it over your polish. Wait about one to three minutes (depending on how many layers of polish) and you are good to go. The bottle says 60 seconds, but I know from experience that the number of layers is a factor.

I used this top coat with all of my swatches of the new Barielle polishes. You can see the post and pictures here. For example, you can see what a shiny finish it gives Eli's Magic.

Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender is also 3Free. Several of the popular quick drying top coat are not 3Free, so if you are looking for a top coat without Dibutyl-Phthalate, Toluene, and Formaldehyde, this one is a good way to go.

Nail Rebuilding Protein retails for $17.50 and Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender retails for $16. Both can be purchased from the Barielle website.
