Color Club Gingerbread Man & Holly

I hope you are enjoying your Thursday! I recently got a new camera. I have been playing around with it and trying to see if it is what I want. Obviously, macro shots (close up photography) is a large part of my camera use. I have not perfected taking manicure shots with this camera yet, but decided I needed to start posting them. If anything, seeing them on my blog will hopefully help me figure out tricks to make the pictures better. I purchased a Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR. The camera is amazing. I am just having trouble getting macro shots in my light box without casting a shadow with the long lens. Also, getting my skin to turn out the right color. If you have any advice, please let me know, whether by comment or email.

Enough of my camera rambling, onto the pictures!

Color Club Gingerbread Man is a light gold foil. The application is perfection and opaque in one coat. It may appear like your basic gold foil, but it does have something special about it. Its scented! It smells like a frosted gingerbread cookie. The scent is very light. Nothing overpowering.

I wanted to make this manicure into something even more Christmas like than gingerbread, so added hollies. Three berries and three leaves. I used stamping plate BM14 and Ulta The Jungle Look. I attempted to stamp red and green on my thumb, but the delicate design dried too much before I could stamp it. So I decided to do green and add the red afterward. I went back with a small dotting tool and Love My Nails New Love to make the holly berries red. I personally love this. Its simple and very easy.

Happy Independence Day!

I hope you are enjoying your Wednesday! And your Fourth of July, if you're in the US. Today, I have a final design to share with you for the holiday.

I had a man compliment me on my patriotic nails today. That rarely happens. Almost never. On my pinky, index, and thumb, I did two coats of Wet n Wild Red Red then stripes with L.A. Colors Art Deco White. For my middle and ring fingers, I used one coat of Pure Ice Super Star! then stamped on stars with Color Club Cold Metal and plate BM20. To add a little extra something, I placed silver star glitter in the middle of each large stamped star.

Wet n Wild retail for $1-2 at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Ulta, and many other stores, all of which are listed on their websiteCold Metal is part of the Color Club Foiled Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross. BM stamping plates are part of a 21 piece set that retails for $18 on Bundle Monster or their Amazon store. Pure Ice retails for $2 at Walmart and Bari Cosmetics. L.A. Colors Art Deco stripers retail for around $1 and can be found at most Dollar stores.

I absolutely love this! I got several compliments at work today. My index and pinky are two coats of Love My Nails New Love and my ring and thumb are two coats of Color Club Cold Metal. For my middle finger, I did one coat of Pure Ice Super Star!, stamped on stripes with New Love and plate BM20, and finally stamped on a star with Cold Metal and plate BM05.

Love My Nails retail for $1 at Bari CosmeticsCold Metal is part of the Color Club Foiled Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross. Zombie Girl

I hope everyone is enjoying their Monday! I have a cute design to show you today with stamping. Getting a decent picture of the stamping was a challenge though.

For my ring finger, I used two coats of Zoya Pippa then stamped on a zombie girl with Color Club Hot Like Lava and plate N.Nail m39. For the rest of my nails, I did two coats of Hot Like Lava.

Hot Like Lava is part of the Color Club Foiled Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross. Zoya retails for $8 on their website. N.Nail Stamping Plates retail for $5.05 on KCenterHK.

Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge Day 3 - Delicate and Elegant

I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday! Today I have another design for the Girly Girl Nail Challenge for you.

This challenge lasts a month and includes eight different days of nail art. Instead of trying to keep up with a new nail design each day, we have two each week. Day Three is Delicate and Elegant: Adorn yourself with a lovely pattern, color, or technique.

I used two coats of Color Club Antiquated then placed on some nail art stickers. I was at a loss until yesterday as to what I was going to do for today's challenge. This post done by Johanna of Neues vom Kellerkind was my inspiration. I love the look of black over Antiquated

Antiquated is part of the Color Club Foiled Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross.

Round and Round We Go

Its Stamping Sunday! This week's theme is Circles.

I started with three thin coats of Pure Ice Super Star!. Next I stamped on Color Club Cold Metal (blue) and Perfectly Mol-ten (green) with stamping plate BM19. Super Star! went on about as well as most white cremes; a little streaky until the third coat. I was unsure about how well using two polishes to stamp would go, but it was super easy. I just swiped one polish on then the other. They blended very well together without mixing.

Pure Ice retails for $2 at Walmart and Bari Cosmetics. Cold Metal and Perfectly Mol-ten are part of the Color Club Foiled Collection. They retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross. BM stamping plates are part of a 21 piece set that retails for $18 on Bundle Monster or their Amazon store.

Blue Butterflies

Spring has arrived! And its on my nails!

This week's Stamping Sunday on Adventures In Stamping is Blue. All the polish has to be blue.

I used Cosmetic Arts Sky High as a base and stamped Color Club Cold Metal using plate BM09. Sky High applied well, opaque in two coats. I'm not sure if it was the brush or polish, but it was impossible to paint within the lines. Clean up fixes that though. I love this polish despite the flaw. I have been looking for a pretty sky blue creme. I was so thrilled to find this polish. Cold Metal stamped very well. I have heard all of the Color  Club Foiled Collection stamps well.

Cosmetic Arts can be found at Ross for $2. I'm not sure where else they can be found. Color Club polish can be found on the Color Club website. They retail individually for $8 and $48 for the sets. I bought my set at Ross for $8. Most polishes at Ross do not have name labels on them, but you can easily find the names on the Color Club website.

Untrieds Day 30 - Color Club Hot Like Lava

Today is my last post for this challenge. It has been so much fun! I loved being encourage to break out my untouched polishes. I buy polish much faster than I use it.

Can you tell yet that I love pink? :) For my last post of the challenge, I am wearing Color Club Hot Like Lava. Amazing application and only needed one coat. I have to say, I love Color Club! I have not had a bad experience with their polishes at all. Nothing but good things to say.

Have you enjoyed seeing me tackle my untrieds? :)

Untrieds Day 25 - Color Club Perfect Mol-ten

Christmas and Winter are coming so be prepared for an overflow of themed manis. Snow, Christmas, penguins, and candy canes galore!

Perfect Mol-ten from the Color Club Foiled Collection is a beautiful green with a lovely foil finish. I love this much more on my nails than I do in the bottle. The application was wonderful and became opaque in just one coat.

Untrieds Day 21 - Color Club Antiquated (with Lace Added)

Today's Monday Nail Art Challenge on PAA is lace. I really wanted to give actually placing thin lace on my nails a try. So I raided my fabric collection and found a pretty forest green lace left over from making bridesmaid dresses last year. I thought gold would be perfect so I picked up one of my Color Club polishes from their Foiled Collection.

After trying this, I have a new appreciation for people who attempt and succeed at manicures with lace fabric. I had some fraying and shifting. The fabric just sort of soaked up the top coat and did not let it dry. This design came right off after I took pictures. I only had to pinch the fabric off.

I think lace overlays are a unique nail design, but either I lacked patience or I missed out on a trick to get this right.

Moving on from the lace and onto the polish, I love Antiquated. Great application with two coats. As the collection name implies, it has a nice foil finish. Its a very lovely subtle gold polish.

Untrieds Day 6 - Color Club Foil Me Once

Today I have part of the Color Club Foiled Collection to show you. This is the first of my CCs I've used.

Foil Me Once is a wonderful mauve polish with a foil finish. The application was amazing. I used two coats here, but could have gotten away with one.

If you're interested in finding this polish, I highly recommend checking out Ross, if your city has one. The company that sells Color Club retails each individual polish for $8 and sets for $48. I got mine my set of 7 at Ross for $8. I've also heard of people finding the sets at TJ Maxx.
