Stars and Stripes

I hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! Today, I have a design for Monkey See Monkey Do and Fourth of July. I found inspiration in a design by Girlie Tomboy.

I absolutely love this! I got several compliments at work today. My index and pinky are two coats of Love My Nails New Love and my ring and thumb are two coats of Color Club Cold Metal. For my middle finger, I did one coat of Pure Ice Super Star!, stamped on stripes with New Love and plate BM20, and finally stamped on a star with Cold Metal and plate BM05.

Love My Nails retail for $1 at Bari CosmeticsCold Metal is part of the Color Club Foiled Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross. BM stamping plates are part of a 21 piece set that retails for $18 on Bundle Monster or their Amazon store. Pure Ice retails for $2 at Walmart and Bari Cosmetics

Speckled Green & Pink

I hope you are enjoying your Monday! Its Monkey See, Monkey Do time again. Basically you take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else.

I took inspiration from this post by Jen of The Exotic Lacquer. Mine are a bit different. I used Julep Cameron and Cosmetic Arts Limelight as my base colors. Both two coats each. Then I did one coat of Love & Beauty Black Knight. I love this look.

Cosmetic Arts retail for $2 at Ross (I'm unsure where else they are sold, if anywhere else). Julep retails for $14 at Julep and Sephora. Love & Beauty retails for $2.80 at Forever21, online and in store.

Hello Kitty

Every week on Polish-aholics Anonymous, we do a nail art challenge with a different theme. This week was dedicated to Stephie Dauphinais. She suddenly passed away last week. In remembrance of her, we wanted to do our nails in designs and colors she liked.

I did Hello Kitty. I've never been a big fan of it, but it seemed like a cute idea since Stephie was big on Hello Kitty. I took inspiration from this cute design. I used Wet n Wild Tickled Pink as my base. Then I stamped on a full nail design with Wet n Wild Lavender Creme and plate BM21. For my Hello Kitty image, I used Sinful Colors Black on Black and plate m71. As an accent, I placed a hot pink rhinestone in the middle of her bow on my ring fingers.

Wet n Wild retail for $1-2 at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Ulta, and many other stores, all of which are listed on their website. Sinful Colors retail for $2 at Walgreens (online/in store) and Target (in store). They're also available for $2.50 at Cherry Culture. BM stamping plates are part of a 21 piece set that retails for $18 on Bundle Monster or their Amazon store. Plate m71 retails for $2.99 on Born Pretty.

Born Pretty has been running a promotion for a long time that offers a free Hello Kitty stamping plate to ten people per day. You do not even have to place an order for anything else. The plate can be found here, along with instructions on how to receive it for free.

Matte Tinted Glitter Gradient

I hope you're enjoying your Monday! Today I have another manicure for Monkey See Monkey Do Monday. Basically you take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else.

I was inspired by this mani done by Ommorphia Beauty Bar. I used completely different polishes, but achieved a very similar effect. I used one coat of OPI Lincoln Park After Dark as my base. Next I sponged OPI Rainbow Connection on about two-thirds of my nails starting at the cuticle. To give the tint, I did one coat of OPI Houston We Have a Purple, a sheer jelly. Finally to give make my design a matte finish, I used Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love

I posted pictures of both matte and shiny. I love the way adding the matte top coat makes the glitter pop.

OPI retails for $8.50 at Ulta and Target, also various places online.

Pink with a Metallic Accent

I hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! I have another manicure to show you for Monkey See, Monkey Do. Its a nail challenge where we take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else. Anything you see on blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, or anywhere else online.

This was inspired by an image on Pinterest. I could not find who did this pairing to give them proper credit. I just love the pink and silver. For my pink, I did three thin coats of No6 Bright Young Thing, a medium pink creme. For my silver accent, I used two coats of Wet n Wild Silvivor, a bright silver metallic. It almost has a foil finish to it, but leans a little more toward metallic. Both of these polishes have great application.

No6 retail for $3 at Payless (though I'm not sure how many still carry the brand). Wet n Wild retail for $1-2 at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Ulta, and many other stores, all of which are listed on their website.

Gold Over Blue

I hope you're enjoying your Tuesday! I have another manicure to show you for Monkey See, Monkey Do. Its a nail challenge where we take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else. Anything you see on blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, or anywhere else online.

This design was inspired by a mani done by The Nailasaurus. For my base, I used two coats of Sinful Colors Savage. It is a matte creme with wonderful application. Mattes are usually harder to work with. Next, I stamped on a floral vine design with Color Club Gingerbread Man and plate BM20. In person, the design is very crisp, which did not exactly translate to pictures.

Sinful Colors retail for $2 at Walgreens (online/in store) and Target (in store). They're also available for $2.50 at Cherry CultureGingerbread Man is part of the Color Club Scent-suous Collection and retails for $4. BM stamping plates are part of a 21 piece set that retails for $18 on Bundle Monster or their Amazon store.

Sugar Plum Fairies

I hope you're enjoying your Monday! I have another manicure to show you for Monkey See, Monkey Do. The challenge just started last week. Its a nail challenge for Monday (though mine will be on Tuesday since I already do one for Mondays) where we take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else. Anything you see on blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, or anywhere else online.

I was inspired by a lovely design I saw on Pinterest by Milily. For my base, I did two coats of Cosmetic Arts In Bloom. Its a very light lilac creme with great application. For the tips, I sponged on Color Club Sugarplum Fairy. I love this glitter so much. It is a clear base packed with light lilac and holo glitter. I've found that for glitter, it is best to paint the polish on the sponge.

Cosmetic Arts retail for $2 at Ross (I'm unsure where else they are sold, if anywhere else). Sugarplum Fairy is part of the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross.

Tipped with Glitter

I hope you're enjoying your Tuesday! I'm starting a new weekly challenge called Monkey See, Monkey Do. Its a nail challenge for Monday (though mine will be on Tuesday since I already do one for Mondays) where we take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else. Anything you see on blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, or anywhere else online.

I was inspired by this gorgeous mani I saw on Pinterest from The Nailasaurus. I would have never thought to pair gray and glitter together. I'm not even a gray fan. I have this polish (my only gray) for nail art. For my nails, I started with a base of Julep Dendrie. Its a lovely gray creme with great application and is opaque in two coats. Next I sponged on Jordana Gemstones. I've found that for glitter, it is best to paint the polish on the sponge. I absolutely love this combination. Its given me a whole new appreciation for gray polish. I actually love it. Now I don't have any colors I won't wear. I only shied away from brown and gray.

Julep retails for $14 at Julep and Sephora. Jordana Specialty Glitters retail for $3 at Jordana and Kmart
