Sparkling Tips

I hope you are enjoying you're Friday! I seem to be solving all my polish related wear issues with glitter lately. I didn't have time to change my nails after wearing Zoya Skylar, so I did a glitter gradient to the tips. It freshened up the look and hid any tip wear. I wish I had decent pictures of right after it was done. I made the mistake of taking them in the kitchen. The lighting made my skin appear yellow and threw off polish color accuracy. I did not notice this until I had already taken my nails through a hard day. So the tip wear is very noticeable.

Despite the wear, I wanted to post them. It was such a sparkly combination. I literally got distracted by my own nails reflection in my laptop screen as I hit a key trying to wake it up from hibernation.

Over Zoya Skylar, I did a quick glitter gradient with Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe. It is a clear base with light green and holo glitter. The light green complimented the steel blue Skylar rather well in person.

Skylar is part of the Zoya True Collection and retails for $8 on their website. Beyond the Mistletoe is part of the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross.

Sugar Plum Fairies

I hope you're enjoying your Monday! I have another manicure to show you for Monkey See, Monkey Do. The challenge just started last week. Its a nail challenge for Monday (though mine will be on Tuesday since I already do one for Mondays) where we take inspiration from or recreate a mani done by someone else. Anything you see on blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, or anywhere else online.

I was inspired by a lovely design I saw on Pinterest by Milily. For my base, I did two coats of Cosmetic Arts In Bloom. Its a very light lilac creme with great application. For the tips, I sponged on Color Club Sugarplum Fairy. I love this glitter so much. It is a clear base packed with light lilac and holo glitter. I've found that for glitter, it is best to paint the polish on the sponge.

Cosmetic Arts retail for $2 at Ross (I'm unsure where else they are sold, if anywhere else). Sugarplum Fairy is part of the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday! I have a very green manicure to share with you today, inspired by the day.

I saw a design similar to this on Chloe's Nails and knew I had to do something like it for St. Patrick's Day. I painted on two coats of China Glaze He's Going in Circles. Then I did freehand french tips with Color Club Holiday Splendor. Its a very holo St. Patrick's Day!

He's Going in Circles is part of the China Glaze Kaleidoscope Collection. It retails for $10-20 various places online. Holiday Splendor is part of the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross.

Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge Day 2 - Gimme That Bling

I hope everyone is having a happy Thursday! Today I have another design for the Girly Girl Nail Challenge for you.

This challenge lasts a month and includes eight different days of nail art. Instead of trying to keep up with a new nail design each day, we have two each week. Day Two is Gimme That Bling: Diamonds are a girls best friend, so put some sparkle on those nails!

This sparkles so much! Even in low lighting. I absolutely love it! First I painted on three coats of Color Club Sugarplum Fairy. I love this polish. Its a clear base packed with holo glitter. After a top coat, I stamped on  Sinful Colors Black on Black with stamping plate BM16 to do accent nails.

Sugarplum Fairy is part of the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection. It retails for $4-8. I purchased mine in a collection set of all six for $8 at Ross. If you are unable to find it, Funky Fingers Sand & Stilettos is an exact dupe, both made by Forsythe Cosmetic Group; it retails for $2 or 3/$5 at Five Below. Sinful Colors retail for $2 at Walgreens (online/in store) and Target (in store). They're also available for $2.50 at Cherry Culture. BM stamping plates are part of a 21 piece set that retails for $18 on Bundle Monster or their Amazon store.

Penguin Nails

My first manicure of 2012! What better way to start off my year than with penguins. I just adore penguins!

I did penguin accent nails on each ring finger going off of a tutorial my Finger Painted. I used Sinful Colors Black on Black, Snow Me White, NYC Times Square Tangerine, China Glaze Sun Worshiper, a Bon Bons polish in hot pink, and Color Club Candy Cane. My left ring finger (that you see) is a girl penguin with a bow. I left the bow off for the other penguin.

I painted the rest of my nails with one coat of the hot pink Bon Bons then one coat Color Club Candy Cane.

Color Club Holiday Splendor & Finger Paints Red Crackle

Its almost Christmas! I will have a cute Christmas nail art mani to show you all tomorrow. :) For today, I have a simple red and green combination.

This is not my first attempt at layering a red crackle over Color Club Holiday Splendor. However, the last one was a bit of a failure. I think this one went somewhat better. I painted all of my nails with one coat of Holiday Splendor. I love how opaque and easy to apply this polish is! Then I layered Finger Paints Red Crackle over the index finger and thumb on my left hand and my pointer and pinky on my right hand. I wish it had showed up more red, but it does look so much better than the last crackle. I already want to layer it over pink for Valentine's Day. Also, it cracks really well. Love it!

Untrieds Day 29 - Essence Hello Holo

As if Color Club glitters were not already crammed with glitter, I added more! :)

I topped Color Club Candy Cane with Essence Hello Holo. Candy Cane does not have any holo glitter in it, so I think this adds some nice flair. The top two pictures are with no flash in artificial light, with the second picture blurred slightly to show the holo. The last picture is with a flash in artificial light. You can see many different colors Hello Holo possesses.

Untrieds Day 28 - Color Club Candy Cane

The end of the challenge is nearing. I've enjoyed being encouraged to wear my untried polishes, rather than go back to familiar ones again and again.

Today, I'm wearing Color Club Candy Cane from their Beyond the Mistletoe Collection. Candy Cane is full of different color pink glitters and silver. This is three coats, for it to be opaque. I absolutely love this polish! I'm a big fan of pink.

Untrieds Day 27 - Sally Hansen Cherry Bomb

More Christmas is coming your way with green and red. :) The idea was to layer red crackle over my existing mani of Color Club Holiday Splendor.

Cherry Bomb has the consistency of a jelly, so it did not hold its color over another color. Which is disappointing, especially since a crackle is meant to wear over other polishes. I really wish this polish was more of a creme and held its color.

Untrieds Day 26 - Color Club Holiday Splendor

This is my first Christmas polish of the season! :)

Oh my goodness, I love this polish! I am not usually a big fan of green, but this one is wonderful. A very pigmented green base with tons of green and holo glitter. The application was the best of all the Color Club glitter polishes (and Funky Fingers, considering they are same formula) that I have tried. This is just one coat. The others I have tried needed at least three coats to be opaque.

Untrieds Day 20 - Color Club Jingle Jangle

Glitter glitter everywhere! Today I pulled out my Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection set. All of the glitters are gorgeous. I decided on Jingle Jangle. I love the colors in this polish.

It has tons of sparkle, especially when the light hits it. I used three coats on most nails, four on a couple to get it opaque. It only took one thick coat of Poshe to give the glitter a smooth finish.

I cannot wait to try out the rest of the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Collection set, especially Holiday Splendor.
