Boogie Nights for Audrey

Behind again. Shame on this blogger.

The first of many manicures to come is this simple little cutie. China Glaze For Audrey with an accent of Ulta Boogie Nights. I love blue and gold together!

Very Belated Birthday Manicure

When I say belated, I mean belated. My birthday was back in August. Better late than never I suppose.

I started with Pure Ice Wild Thing, the closest polish I had to my birthstone. On my index and pinky, I have OPI Rainbow Connection. Not only is it colorful, its a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday. How perfect?! The glitter on my ring finger is a little less colorful with ICING Glitterati. Some cute cupcakes topped it off with the use of stamping plates BM-H19 and BM-H20.

F4 Mint Chocolate Chip

I'm still here! A week behind, but I swear I'm still here. I've been a busy little bee. Work (aka insanity lately), family, and my new budding relationship. Yep, dating. :) I've had a lot on my mind blog wise, which I'll cover at the end.

Today I have F4 Mint Chocolate Chip to share with you. I'm a sucker for anything mint chocolate. Its my favorite flavor ice cream. So when I saw this polish, I had to have it! It looks as good as mint chocolate chip ice cream tastes. That's really saying something! Mint Chocolate Chip is a mint green creme filled with brown micro glitter. The creme is just sheer enough to see the glitter of the coat beneath, giving it amazing depth. The application was great.

F4 polishes are sold in their Etsy store and retail for $8 (15ml).

Edit: What blogger forgot the stuff she was going to cover at the end? This one. I've had so many ideas circling around in my head. Should I do weekly stuff? Like Nail Art Wednesday or something like that. A couple of weekly installments. Also, should I attempt vlogging? The thought of being on camera scares me. But it could be fun. Maybe I'll post a test video and see how it goes.

I really want to do things other than nail polish too. But right now, I'm leaving my blog nail related. I'm going to post all other stuff on my Instagram. Makeup, jewelry, and such. Hopefully I can get better at makeup shots. So far, mine suck. So please tell me what you want to see! Tell me here, or on one of my many social sites. FacebookTumblr, Twitter, and Instagram. Plus there's Youtube and Pinterest (but I suppose those aren't great places to tell me something, just wanted to throw them in.) And as always, there's email.

Zoya Nyx

I hope you are enjoying your Monday! Today I have a beautiful textured polish to share with you.

Zoya Nyx is a perwinkle matte glitter with silver sparkle. It literally looks like pixie dust was sprinkled atop a matte periwinkle backdrop. So many nail polish brands are hopping on the textured wagon. The Pixie Dust Collection was the first to really catch by eye. The application is perfection and opaque in two coats. The finish is textured. It doesn't snag on hair or anything else. The directions say to apply with no base coat or top coat. I was a little worried about the wear time with no top coat. But Nyx surprised me. I was extremely hard on my nails the two days I wore it. No tip wear or chips.

Nyx is part of the Zoya Pixie Dust Collection and retails for $9 on Zoya. It also recently started showing up at Ulta for the same price. Zoya is releasing brighter Pixie Dust polishes for the Summer.

Ulta Devious with Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter Accent

I hope you are enjoying your Wednesday! I have yet another Ulta brand polish to share with you today.

Ulta Devious is a dark eggplant purple creme. It goes on smooth and creamy like butter, opaque in two coats. I used Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter as an accent over Devious. Pinky Glitter is a light pink jelly filled with holo glitter and shimmer. The glitter really pops over a dark shade.

Ulta polishes retail for $6 at Ulta, in store and online. They frequently go on sale for as inexpensive as $2. Sinful Colors retail for $2 at Walgreens, Walmart, Target, and various other stores (a complete list on their website.)

Ulta Boogie Nights and XOXO

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Ulta just recently discontinued a few of their nail polishes and released some new ones. I picked up two. I am very happy with my choices.

Ulta Boogie Nights is a clear base filled with multi-size gold glitter, along with multi-size multicolor glitter. The colors include purple, orange, blue, pink, green, and a few silver. The application is perfection for a glitter this dense. It is opaque in three coats. It took two coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out, but the finished look is worth it. The layering is not thick.

XOXO is an orange toned pink jelly containing orange, purple, and pink flakes. The application is smooth and opaque in two coats. These two polishes are so much fun, especially together.

Have you seen the new Ulta colors? If so, are you planning to snatch up any?

Ulta After Party over black

I hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! I have yet another Ulta brand polish to share with you today.

Ulta After Party is a clear base with micro red/orange, mauve, and silver glitter. On its own its very light; it really pops over black. The glitter disperses evenly and dense in just one coat. It can easily be layered on its own to be opaque.

Ulta nail polish retails for $6 at Ulta, in store and online. They always have a sale, so you never have to pay full price. I got this shade (along with several others) during their recent $2 sale.

Ulta My Two Cents

I hope you are enjoying your Monday!

Ulta My Two Cents is a brown jelly base full of small copper glitter. The application is good, little uneven at the tips. However, until you take macro nail photos, its nearly impossible to notice. It takes two coats to be opaque. This polish simply screams Autumn. I've had my eye on it for months and finally caved during the last sale.

Polish by Franken Femme

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Today I have a gorgeous polish to show you.

This beauty was made by Becca of Franken Femme. She makes amazing frankens, all featured on her blog. This particular lovely is a blue jelly base with matte lime green, matte turquoise, and matte lavender hex glitter. I was in love from the moment I unwrapped it. The application is perfection and opaque in three coats. The glitter spreads out evenly and the jelly base lets the layers of glitter show through adding depth.

Check out her blog Franken Femme for more awesome frankens.

American Apparel Nebula

I hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! I tried looking up swatches of this particular polish before I purchased it. Could not find any. Looked again yesterday to see if anyone wore it alone to see if it could eventually be opaque, still no swatches. Can I really be the first to post about this beauty? How is that possible?

American Apparel Nebula is a clear base filled with small multicolor hex glitter. The colors include silver, yellow, orange, blue, red, green, purple, pastel turquoise, and pale pink. Very colorful and really pops over the black base. The application is perfection. The glitter spreads out nicely and covers evenly. I used one coat over two coats of black polish. Definitely a must have if you love glitter!

Naild'It SSSNot What You Think

I hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! Today I have a lovely indie polish to share with you.

Naild'It SSSNot What You Think is a green tinted base filled with three different sizes of hex glitter in pastel green, yellow, orange, red, blue, and silver. I initially wore it alone; however, I just was not wowed by it. So a few days later, I searched through my green swatches for the closest to SSSNot What You Think's base. I found one that was nearly perfect.

The first three pictures feature two coats of SSSNot What You Think over one coat of Sinful Colors Mint Apple (after one day of hard wear). The next two pictures are three coats of the indie polish on its own. The last is a close up to showcase all of the lovely glitter.

Cookies and Creme

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Today I am revisiting a polish layering combination I did a little over a year ago. I was inspired by my favorite candy bar to do a Cookies & Creme mani. I simply layered black glitter over a milky white base, as seen in the post I did for it. This time I got a tad more creative.

I did alternating layers of Essie Marshmallow and Love & Beauty Black Knight for five layers total. Jelly, glitter, jelly, glitter, and jelly. I think it gives more depth and reminds me more of candy.

Lynnderella I Don't Mean Rhinestones

I hope you are enjoying your Saturday! About a week ago, I posted about Lynnderella I Don't Mean Rhinestones. While I liked it, I was not overly impressed by it when worn on its own. All of the layers made it too thick. I said that I would layer it over a base color soon. And I finally did.

One coat of I Don't Mean Rhinestones over one coat of Wet n Wild Nocturnal (a blackened blue ink). I much prefer the layering versus on its own. See my previous post if you want to compare for yourself. This polish is a clear base full of holographic turquoise squares, diamonds, and hexes. They are not holographic in the traditional sense. Instead they reflect colors in the blue spectrum  Think yellow, blue, and green. Its very pretty. You see more of the individual glitter when layering. For example, I did not realize it had small square turquoise glitter until I layered it over dark blue.

China Glaze Whirled Away

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! I was very excited when I saw that a mainstream brand came out with a black and white glitter. They have been extremely popular in the indie polish world. However, this particular one leaves a lot to be desired.

China Glaze Whirled Away is a clear base with black string, large hex, and white extra large hex glitter. The base is thick and the glitter is difficult to place. You do not even see only of the white glitter here because they were so hard to fish out. This is one coat and some fished out pieces over Pure Ice Super Star! and Claire's Lime Yours. If you want black and white glitter, in my opinion, you are better off going the indie route. I plan to.

Zoya Aurora

I hope you are enjoying your Saturday! I took advantage of Zoya's promo and received my order on Thursday. The sale ends on 1/13 at midnight est. You get three free and just pay $10 for shipping and handling, using promo code ZOYA2013.

Zoya Aurora is a medium purple jelly with dense holographic glitter flakes. I cannot express how gorgeous this polish is! The application is perfection in two coats. The glitter flakes are small and flat. They do not apply like glitter or remove like glitter equaling easy application and removal. Aurora is a must have!

Lynnderella I Don't Mean Rhinestones

I hope you are enjoying your Friday! Last week, I added a feature to my blog so that you could vote for what polish you wanted to see me swatch. I plan to post them on Fridays. I will do this every week, so please vote. :)

Lynnderella I Don't Mean Rhinestones is a clear base full of holographic turquoise squares, diamonds, and hexes. They are not holographic in the traditional sense. Instead they reflect colors in the blue spectrum  Think yellow, blue, and green. The polish is gorgeous in the bottle and pretty when looking down at my nails. The application was a bit of a pain. I suppose chunky full coverage glitters tend to be. It took three coats to be opaque. Its a very pretty polish, but not really worth the price tag in my opinion. I do plan to try it over a base color to see if it will make me love it.

This is my first Lynnderella. I received it in a surprise grab bag. I have not owned one before because of the drama and difficulty to obtain them. I'm not completely sold on the hype as of now. I plan to have a post next week showing I Don't Mean Rhinestones over a base color. Maybe then I can say I get the hype.

SoFlaJo Champagne Cocktail

I hope you are enjoying your Thursday! Today I have a gorgeous indie polish to show you.

SoFlaJo Champagne Cocktail is a silver holo with scattered holo glitter. The holo effect is much stronger than it appears in my pictures. It was cloudy the entire time I wore it, and indoor pictures obviously did not do it justice. I love the addition of holo glitter! It adds a little something extra to make this polish unique. Champagne Cocktail can be alone as I did, or used as a layering top coat. It took three coats to be opaque and has a wonderful application.

Love & Beauty Pink Speckled Glitter Over Black

I hope you are enjoying your Wednesday! I recently saw a gorgeous manicure on Pinterest and I had to know what glitter was used. To my surprise, it was something I already owned. They had simply layered it over black.

This is one coat of Love & Beauty Pink Speckled Glitter over a black creme. Pink Speckled Glitter is a sheer pink jelly with iridescent flakies, micro, and small round glitter. All of the glitter is iridescent, not quite holo, but close. I loved it over a pink base, which you can see here, but I am just head over heels seeing it with black.
